How to find us

If you’ve arriving from outside Erlangen and have not been to one of our plays before you might not know exactly how to find the theatre. The information on this page should help you.

All regular performances take place in the Experimentiertheater, Bismarckstr. 1 in Erlangen. The theatre is in the main university building of the “Philosophische Fakultät”, beside the Audimax and is clearly signed from the main entrance.

Arriving by car

From the A73 (Frankenschnellweg): leave the motorway at exit Erlangen Nord.

From the north: after leaving the motorway turn left at the traffic lights onto Dechsendorfer Straße following the signs for “Uni-Kliniken”.
From the south: after leaving the motorway turn right following the signs for Erlangen-West. Turn left at the traffic lights following the signs for “Uni-Kliniken”.

Now continue along Martinsbühler Straße which will become Pfarrstraße, then Neue Straße and finally Hindenburg Straße until you arrive at a T-Junction. You will see the university building directly in front of you.

From the A3 (Würzburg - Nürnberg): leave the motorway at exit Erlangen West

Turn left at the traffic lights following the signs for Erlangen.You will enter the city via the Martinsbühler Straße which will become Pfarrstraße, then Neue Straße and finally Hindenburg Straße, until you arrive at a T-Junction.You will see the university building directly in front of you.

From the A3 (Nürnberg- Würzburg): change onto the A73 at Kreuz Fürth-Erlangen

Follow the instructions for arriving by car from the south above.

On-street parking is available but unfortunately very limited. Please bear this in mind when planning your journey!

Arriving by train

It takes about 15 minutes to walk from Erlangen main train station to the Experimentiertheater. Leaving the station walk straight ahead taking the road on the left hand side (Richard Wagner Strasse) and continue straight on into the Universitätsstrasse for about 10 minutes until you reach a roundabout (Lorlebergplatz). Go left here and walk straight on along the Bismarckstrasse. You will see the main university building on the right hand side just past the traffic lights.

You can also take a bus to the university (bus 289 from immediately opposite the station). Alight at the stop Hindenburgstrasse immediately in front of the university. Bus 289 goes from the other side of the road back to the station.

Taxis can be taken from in front of the station.
